Sam Peckinpah’s first film to follow The Wild Bunch was another classic of the genre. Though not as famous as its slightly older sibling, The Ballad of Cable Hogue presents its director (not to mention its composer) in top form. Jason Robards, Stella Stevens and David Warner starred. Goldsmith’s lyrical soundtrack includes the song he composed for the main titles (Tomorrow Is The Song I Sing) and incorporates elements of two other songs (Butterfly Mornin’s and Wait for Me, Sunrise), both composed for the film by Richard Gillis.
