To mark the beginning of Varèse Sarabande’s year-long celebration of the composer’s 75th birthday (February 10, 2004), it seemed particularly appropriate to begin with the invaluable Goldsmith archive housed at 20th Century Fox. Toward that end, producers Nick Redman and Robert Townson have assembled this unprecedented collection. This is Varese Sarabande’s most elaborate and ambitious release in our 25-year history. We also realize that it is our most expensive. We have decided to produce every aspect of this set to a very high standard to ensure that Jerry Goldsmith At 20th Century Fox becomes the cornerstone of any Goldsmith collection. A great deal of effort and expense has been devoted to restoring and rescuing a dozen previously unreleased Goldsmith scores which, in some cases, were believed to have been lost. This deluxe limited edition boxed set also contains an elaborate 64-page full-color book, chronicling Jerry Goldsmith’s career at Fox. All of this is packaged in a heavy-duty, durable box. To preserve the collectable value of this unique and historic release, we have limited its run to only 1500 copies. Inside the box, the CDs are packaged, 3 discs each, in two clamshell jewel boxes.
