Oscar buzz surrounds this new film from both the director and star of Forrest Gump. An inspector (Hanks) for Federal Express has a position that requires him to travel around the world, testing the various international shipping offices to make sure they're shipping in a timely manner. An accident, however, leaves him stranded on a remote island for four years. This is the story of how a man must evolve in isolation in order to survive... and when he gets back, how he has to deal with having been away from his fiancιe (Helen Hunt) for several years. Cast Away is the tenth Robert Zemeckis film to feature music by Alan Silvestri. Just a few months back the two collaborated on the summer blockbuster What Lies Beneath. As the score for Cast Away is based on a single, but very beautiful theme, we have taken the opportunity of supplementing this by taking a look back over the phenomenally successful pictures and scores from their past.
